You have to keep in mind that it is not a quick fix, but rather a series of mindful, gradual choices that help build a new foundation for the body.

The healing effect of Acupuncture is through helping you gain more energy, reducing stress and stress-related hormone levels, improving the metabolism and absorption of nutrients, lowering the appetite and cravings. While using Oriental Medicine to aid in weight loss, you are still advised to have healthy eating habits, as well as to keep active (do enjoyable, light, cardio-type exercise 3 to 5 days a week).

Another important factor to consider when trying to lose weight is eating right for your constitution. Not all of our genetic make-up and body types are the same! You might have heard terms like “Kapha dosha”, “Vata dosha” or “Pitta dosha” before. These terms come from Ayurveda, ancient Indian Medicine, and are closely related to the system of categorization of body types of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Each type has its unique intelligence and needs different foods, types of activity, and sleep patterns in order to stay in balance. Eating lots of raw, cold foods (for example a big salad) might work for someone with excessive “Yang” or “hot” constitution, while adding warming foods and spices will benefit the types that are always cold, prone to water retention and low energy “Yin types”.

Thus, considering our unique qualities is crucial when trying to make positive changes towards a healthier self. In a course of treatment, we provide Acupuncture, sometimes combined with electro-Acupuncture, Auricular medicine, Moxibustion & Cupping (if needed), and dietary and/ or supplementation advice for you. Traditional Chinese Medicine herbal formulas can also be used if required.

By achieving balance and taking charge of your health, you can enjoy the fulfillment that comes with it.
